Registration holds will be placed on any student account with a past-due balance exceeding $500.00. Holds are placed approximately one week prior to the start of each quarter's registration period.  Please see below for Registration Hold FAQ's & support!

Registration Hold FAQs & Support

Your registration hold will automatically lift after your past due account balance has been paid below $500.00.  Registration holds lift automatically every hour, but may be manually lifted by a Student Business Office staff member upon request.  Please contact our office for more information.

If you have a pending financial aid disbursement (such as a scholarship, loan, or grant) the Financial Aid Department may request the Student Business Office temporarily lift your registration hold. Please note the Student Business Office will require a direct request from the Financial Aid Department to lift your hold.  This option may not be available in all cases.  For more information, contact the Financial Aid Department directly.

Your student account must be current to register for a future quarter at Western.

At the time registration holds are placed, the Student Business Office does not offer financial assistance or funding resources.  To explore financial resources including loans, grants, and scholarships, please reach out to the Financial Aid Department

The Student Business Office offers a Temporary Repayment Arrangement (TRA) for individuals who are not currently enrolled at Western. This plan allows you to make manageable monthly payments toward your outstanding balance. Please note that while you are enrolled in a TRA, you will become eligible to register for future terms once your balance is below $500.

If you have been sent to an outside collections agency,  you may contact the agency you were referred to, or the Student Business Office's Debt Recovery Unit at SBO.debtrecovery@wwu.edu or call 360-650-2943.
